Structure
1) A pre trail meeting

2) 7 days walking in the iMfolosi wilderness in KwaZuluNatal, South Africa.
In the 6 nights sleeping under the stars we share wilderness with the wild animals of the bush; lion, buffalo, elephant and rhino, leopard as well as the numerous small creatures that do so much to shape our world. Doing night watch round a fire, and meeting no other people, we enter a profound and transforming inner journey that re-connects us with our deepest nature, our inner strength and wisdom; our wild self. Waking in the bush at first light we can experience ourselves as part of the wild, smelling the bush, warming with the earth, and hearing other wild animals return to sleep or rise and drink. We learn what is predictable and what is not, and hone our intelligence and ability to respond accordingly.

3) A 3 day workshop in a bushcamp to deepen personal experience and develop professional aims. A small carefully selected group in a confidential setting provides a potent source of mutual inspiration and potential for action. Groups will be a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 7

4) 10 Hours of coaching roughly once per month (at the participant’s workplace or by phone).

5) 2 day workshop to develop and sustain the learning 4-8 months after the trail.

Impact
The workshop first of all deepens this vital and personal journey, then guides us in exploring how contact with our wild self impacts us as leaders giving us fresh & profound vision, authentic values and increased gravitas & motivation.

In the next stage of the workshop we enter the professional world more explicitly and we begin to vision our future as leaders. Connecting with our responsibility for developing sustainable business practices and for integrating environmental and social responsibility is an integral part of the work. Businesses now have huge power to shape our world, and thus a responsibility to shape a world where all have the opportunity to live well, and where our children and our childrens’ children can thrive. This learning helps to equip us to meet these new and crucial responsibilities.

Each participant will have the opportunity to challenge and address deep and vital issues. Vision and goal making for personal/professional development in the context of the needs of your business is a vital aspect of the work. Ongoing confidential coaching supports the crystallisation and development of these goals and visions as well as helping to sustain the profound personal learning that underpins personal authentic leadership development. The follow up workshop allows us to re-connect and to cross-fertilise and consolidate our learning.

Trails will be tailor made to suit the diary and appropriate theme requirements of particular groups.

Groups can be mixed or for one company

Practical

This is a unique experience and the carbon footprint made by this trip will be offset many times by the impact of the work on each individual. It is, I believe, worth its weight in gold.

“I think the combined impact of walking together and then coming back and talking and sharing did open up communication with the team and helped me bond.Checking for crocodiles, Imfolosi, South Africa

"Being in nature helped me to gain a different perspective and to calm down under pressure”

Imfolosi River

"I feel nature had a huge impact as it made me focus on things that are really important and vital and loose petty concerns from the picture. It also reminded me of strength that I have as a (physical) being, that I can always use to my advantage.”
